What is PDGF?

PDGF stands for platelet-derived growth factor, a naturally occurring protein involved in the body's cellular communication and tissue repair processes.

Growth factors act as messengers between cells, helping coordinate the body's natural response to tissue injury.

Ariessence pure PDGF+ uses recombinant PDGF-BB, a laboratory-produced version of this growth factor, combined with hyaluronic acid in a topical formulation designed for use following aesthetic procedures.

Unlike treatments that require a blood draw, Ariessence provides a consistent, manufactured formulation without using human-derived blood or tissue.

Benefits of PDGF

When incorporated into an appropriate skin rejuvenation treatment, Ariessence may offer several benefits:

  • Enhanced skin radiance: Supports a smoother, more refreshed-looking complexion.

  • Improved appearance of texture: Complements treatments targeting roughness and uneven skin texture.

  • Post-treatment comfort: May help reduce the appearance of redness and improve the recovery experience.

  • Hydration support: Hyaluronic acid helps maintain moisture in the skin.

  • No blood draw required: Offers a convenient alternative to blood-derived topical growth factor preparations.

  • Natural-looking results: Focuses on skin quality rather than adding facial volume.

What to Expect When You Come In...

Consultation

We begin by evaluating your skin health, concerns, and aesthetic goals to determine which treatment will provide the most appropriate foundation for your results.

Treatment

Your provider performs the recommended procedure, such as microneedling or an appropriate laser treatment. Ariessence pure PDGF+ is prepared and applied topically according to the treatment protocol.

Recovery and Results

Recovery depends primarily on the procedure performed. Temporary redness, sensitivity, dryness, or peeling may occur.

Your provider will review aftercare instructions and recommend a personalized maintenance plan to support your long-term skin health.

How Does PDGF Work?

The Science Behind Healthier-Looking Skin

Your skin has a remarkable ability to renew itself.

PDGF is one of the proteins involved in the body's natural tissue repair signaling pathways. Ariessence brings this growth factor technology into a topical cosmetic formulation intended to complement aesthetic procedures.

When paired with treatments such as microneedling or laser resurfacing, Ariessence may help enhance the appearance of the treated skin and support a more comfortable post-procedure experience.

At Renova, we believe the most effective approach to rejuvenation combines evidence-informed technology with a personalized treatment plan.

Common Questions

we get at consultations

Is PDGF the same as PRP or PRF?

No. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) are prepared using components of your own blood. Ariessence contains laboratory-produced recombinant PDGF-BB and hyaluronic acid, so no blood draw is necessary.

Is Ariessence an exosome treatment?

No. PDGF is a specific growth factor protein. Exosome products are more complex extracellular vesicle preparations. They are not interchangeable, and their formulations and supporting evidence differ.

Is Ariessence injected?

No. Ariessence pure PDGF+ is intended for topical cosmetic use following compatible aesthetic procedures. It is not an injectable filler or biostimulator.

Does PDGF stimulate collagen?

PDGF is involved in biological signaling pathways associated with tissue repair. However, the effects of a growth factor within the body should not be confused with clinically proven outcomes from a topical cosmetic product. At Renova, we use Ariessence as a complement to procedures that have their own established mechanisms of skin remodeling.

Will I have downtime?

Downtime depends on your primary treatment. For example, microneedling may cause temporary redness and sensitivity, while some laser treatments require a longer recovery period. Ariessence may improve the post-treatment experience, but it does not eliminate downtime.

How many treatments will I need?

That depends on your skin concerns and the procedure being performed. Your provider may recommend a series of treatments or periodic maintenance based on your goals.

Is Ariessence FDA-approved?

Ariessence is marketed and FDA-listed as a topical cosmetic product. It is not FDA-approved as a drug or injectable treatment. FDA approval of other medical products containing PDGF does not constitute approval of Ariessence for those uses.

Treatments That May Be Paired With Ariessence

- Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that initiate the skin's natural remodeling response. Ariessence can be applied topically following treatment as an enhancement to the skin rejuvenation experience.

Ideal for: Patients seeking improvement in the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, and overall skin quality.

Depending on the treatment protocol, Ariessence may be incorporated after select laser procedures to complement skin rejuvenation and the post-treatment experience.

Ideal for: Patients pursuing improved skin tone, texture, and radiance through a personalized laser treatment plan.

Advanced Skin Rejuvenation + PDGF

Ariessence may also be considered following other compatible professional skin treatments when appropriate.

Our providers will determine whether PDGF is a suitable addition based on your skin, treatment goals, and the procedure being performed.
